Animal Facility Access
Key card (Buck ID or Medical Center ID) access will be granted to an individual when all of the following are completed:

- The online or classroom Animal Usage Orientation Course
- Online Occupational Health and Safety training
- You are listed on an active animal protocol
- Online orientation of the animal facilities
- Currently only applicable to BRT access
- See Training to complete BRT facility training.
A completed Key Card Request Form must be submitted for each animal facility to which you need access:
- Forms are available online but can also be obtained from 101 Wiseman Hall
- Completed forms should be returned to 101 Wiseman Hall or can be submitted electronically (ularinfo@osu.edu) as a scanned copy since a PI signature is required
- For additional questions about key card requests e-mail: ularinfo@osu.edu
Facility access is limited to the hours of 6:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M. although specific exceptions may be granted when required by the animal protocol. Standard light cycles for animal rooms are set at 6:00 A.M. lights on and 6:00 P.M. lights out in order to allow research animals to maintain a regular circadian rhythm. Entrance to animal rooms beyond the 6:00 P.M. time period is specifically restricted as it may have a detrimental effect on animal welfare, specifically influencing reproductive success and the stress response.
