Rates & Fees
ULAR is required to recover the costs associated with the care of laboratory animals through per diem rates. Invoices are processed monthly and charged interdepartmentally to the Principal Investigator’s (PI) Research Foundation Project or Department Chartfield as located on the animal cage card and room census sheet. Per Diem (animal housing costs)
About 15% of the animal care costs are subsidized by the Office of Research (OR). Per diem rates are based on the cost analysis and recovery procedures delineated in the NIH document Cost Analysis and Rate Setting Manual for Animal Resource Facilities. Mouse rates are per cage while all other species are per animal. For further questions please contact ularinfo@osu.edu.
Surgery Fees
Extensive, state of the art surgical facilities are available in Wiseman Hall. Charges are based on the room and equipment usage, as well as support requested. Please contact ulartech@osu.edu for specific questions.
Technical Time
ULAR technicians are available to support and assist investigators with research projects, provide technical services, and specialized procedures. Charges for these services are billed on an hourly basis as follows:
- Technician Fees: $33.00/Hour
- Weekends/Holidays/After Hours: $49.00/Hour
