Surgery and Technical Services
ULAR provides facilities and support to investigators as well as outside companies for survival surgeries, non-survival surgeries, and technical procedures for all species of research animals.
All facilities are AAALAC accredited and capable of supporting Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) studies.
The support staff consists of registered veterinary technicians, laboratory animal health technicians, and veterinarians with expertise in animal model development.
Equipment available:
- Veterinary anesthesia machines, physiologic monitors, cautery, hot bead sterilizer, scales, and restraint devices
- Imaging modalities including ultrasound and fluoroscopy
- Minimally invasive surgical equipment
- Surgical microscopes and rodent surgery supplies
Services available:
- Technical assistance & consultation for antibody production, venipuncture, anesthesia, breeding, genotyping, etc. for all species of laboratory animals
- Instrument sterilization: ethylene oxide/steam
- Assistance with continuing education programs & courses (ATLS, Zollinger Society)
