Lori Mattox, surgery supervisor, University Laboratory Animal Resources (ULAR), received the 2020 Technician of the Year Award from the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS). AALAS is an association of professionals dedicated to the humane care and treatment of laboratory animals, as well as the quality research that leads to scientific gains that benefit people and animals.
Mattox was recognized for her accomplishment and contribution to the promotion of laboratory animal care through identification and implementation of new or improved techniques in the care of animals, outstanding individual work performance, positive attitude, team work and motivation. Mattox manages the experimental surgery core staff for ULAR and provides instructional support for technicians and students in animal, medical, anesthesia and surgical techniques.
